PSV Eindhoven secured the 2017/18 Eredivisie title by four points, despite a run of three draws as the season closed. Central to their success was young Mexican winger Hirving Lozano, who is likely to play a starring role for his national side at the World Cup in Russia 2018. Lozano was the Eredivisie’s fifth top scorer and PSV’s highest, with 17 goals, 19.5% of PSV’s total of 87. He also managed eight assists. Lozano signed from Mexican team Pachuca in June 2017, having won the CONCACAF Champions League with the Hidalgo State team, finishing the competition as top scorer with eight goals.

Hirving Lozano excelled for PSV as they took the title, and for such a young player in his first season, this was a doubly impressive feat. He is also the youngest starter for Mexico, who also play a 4-3-3 with Lozano on the left. While there’s already no shortage of interest in Lozano, a good World Cup will put him firmly on the map as a superb talent with room to improve..
